What Went on Last Week

On July 1, 2021, Foothills County responded to a 911 call of a single vehicle collision on 378 Avenue West in Foothills County. Once on location, Foothills RCMP members observed a Red Harley Davidson motorbike in the ditch. The 63-year-old male driver from Calgary, Alberta was issued a liquor related 90-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 30-days. He was taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Also on July 1, at approximately 10:30 p.m. 2021 Foothills County RCMP responded to a complaint of Fireworks being set off at Heritage Lake. Foothills County members made patrols of the area but were unable to locate anyone responsible. RCMP would like to remind everyone that there is a Fire Ban in effect in several areas. These types of activities increase the risk of fires within the County and potentially puts everyone at risk.

On June 28, 2021 at 8:30 p.m., Foothills County RCMP and Fire/EMS responded to a structure fire at 309 Government Road in Black Diamond. Once the fire was extinguished, police secured the scene for further investigation. The fire was determined to be non-suspicious in nature.

Q & A with S/SGT Laura Akitt

I am extremely pleased to see that restrictions within the province are lifted and we are able to once again engage and interact with each other. I am extremely proud of everyone within the County for “doing your part” to help us all reach this point.

There is now the opportunity to again engage with the community and community partners. If social groups are interested in educational talks or formal information from the RCMP, please do not hesitate to reach out to me on the associated e-mail address to make your requests.

Cheers,
Laura
