Community Peace Officer Level 2 / Municipal Enforcement

1 - Permanent, Full-Time Position

The Position:

The Municipal District of Foothills No. 31 encompasses a diverse rural landscape covering approximately 3,600 square kilometres located in the foothills of southern Alberta.  The M.D. is inviting applications for a permanent full-time Community Peace Officer, Level 2 / Municipal Enforcement.

Under the general direction of the Protective Services Coordinator and the Senior Enforcement Officer, the CPO Level 2 is responsible for enforcement of various municipal bylaws and specific provincial statues as well as providing assistance to other CPO’s within the Department.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a completed Diploma or Degree in a Law Enforcement related field or those with related law enforcement / municipal enforcement experience.
  • Eligible for Community Peace Officer 2 Appointment from Alberta Justice and Solicitor General.
  • The completion of the PARE physical abilities testing (or recognized equivalent) within the past six (6) calendar months, with a time of four (4) minutes 45 seconds or less.
  • Full mobility with a good level of physical fitness.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and processes surrounding enforcement, entering onto properties, seeking orders and the injunctive process would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to appear before appeal boards and to provide in-depth case reports associated to appeals of remedial and/or stop orders.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills, ability to photograph scenes, preparation of affidavits for legal counsel.

Manager of Human Resources

The Municipal District of Foothills No.31, located in High River, AB, is a vibrant and thriving municipality south of Calgary.  We are currently seeking a full time, permanent Manager of Human Resources to join our management team.  As a leader of our team you will have the opportunity to enhance the well-being of the organization and its people.

We are seeking a dynamic individual who will provide leadership, guidance, support and knowledge in all aspects of human resources management with a primary focus on leading the Human Resource, Payroll and Safety departments within the organization. This role reports to the Director of Corporate Services and will provide direction, leadership and mentoring within the department. If you are involved with daily human resource activities and development, maintain attributes to be instrumental in fostering a positive work culture and enjoy working closely with all levels of an organization, we encourage you to consider joining our management team.

To be successful in this position you will hold a Designation from the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Alberta (CPHR) or other like provincial institution and have completed a University certification in Human Resource Management (diploma/degree). A minimum of ten years leadership and human resource generalist experience is preferred. Priority will be given to Applicants that have a payroll & benefits background, are versed in employment standards law and have knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety and/or Alberta Municipal Health & Safety Association Standards.
