Foothills County Appoints New Chief Administrative Officer

Foothills County is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ryan Payne to the position of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) effective July 1, 2020.  Mr. Payne will share responsibility with Foothills County’s Municipal Manager, Harry Riva Cambrin.

Fee Schedule Bylaw

July 8, 2020

Council of Foothills County amended the Fee Schedule Bylaw at the regular Council meeting on July 8, 2020. The New Fee Schedule Bylaw 38/2020 establishes fees, rates and charges for a variety of municipal services.

Screening Standards & Hwy 2A ASP Design Guidelines

Foothills County is reviewing screening standards and Highway 2A Industrial Corridor design guidelines. The screening standards apply to commercial or industrial development throughout the municipality, while the design guidelines apply only to development in the Highway 2A Industrial corridor.

The 2020 combined Assessment and Tax Notices were mailed on June 15, 2020.  Pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, Section 311(2), all assessed persons are deemed to have received their assessment notices as a result of this advertisement.

The Assessment Roll is available for viewing here.  If you are unable to view the assessment roll online please contact the Foothills County Office during regular business hours at 403-652-2341

The deadline for Assessment complaints is August 24, 2020. If you have any questions please call the Assessment Department at 403-652-2341.

WATER SAFETY

Where there’s water, there’s risk. Accidents can happen even when you do everything right. When you’re out enjoying Foothill’s rivers and lakes, please remember to:

  • Wear a lifejacket.
  • Scout, assess and decide.
  • Keep kids safe around water.
  • Learn to swim.
  • Behave on the water.
  • Bring the right supplies.
  • Call 9-1-1 if there is an emergency on the water.

Intermunicipal Development Plan

June 3, 2020

Foothills County and Vulcan County are reviewing their Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP).

Vulcan County and Foothills County currently have an IDP that was adopted by both councils in 2015. With amendments to the Municipal Government Act, the plan requires a review to ensure it continues to comply with provincial legislation.

Watch for hearings to be held by Foothills County and Vulcan County in Fall 2020.

Road Safety

Temporary Road Closure - 226 Ave

June 1, 2020

226 AVE. between 64 ST. W. and 80 St. W. WILL BE CLOSED JUNE 1, 2020 for reconstruction for approximately 6 weeks, 24/7. The closure is expected to last until mid-July (six weeks). Local traffic and emergency access is available on 80 St. West, half a kilometre east of closure.
