    Flores Groeneveld

    August 6, 2021

It is with great sadness that Foothills County acknowledges the passing of former Councillor Flores Groeneveld on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Flores served the County as Councillor for Division 7 for 15 years. He was first elected in 1989, serving as Reeve from 1992 to 2001, and Deputy Reeve from 2001 to 2004. Flores was dedicated in his service to community, but was especially devoted to family and friends. He and his beloved wife Margaret raised their family on their farm along the banks of the Bow River.  Following his retirement, Flores continued to serve the County on various boards and committees including one of his favorites, the Historical Committee where stories were shared in abundance and his interest in preserving the County’s history was evident. Foothills County Council and staff wish to convey their heartfelt condolences to Flores’ family. The County will be forever grateful for his many years of friendship and service.
