    Lower Highwood Flood Risk Mitigation Program - Phase 1

    Foothills County is pleased to announce the receipt of $2,000,000 in funding from the Government of Alberta for the 2018-2019 fiscal year to enable the initiation of Phase 1 of the Lower Highwood Flood Risk Mitigation Program. This funding is considered to be the first instalment in a multi-year program; however, future instalments will be subject to approval by Alberta Environment annually.

New Responsible Dog Ownership Bylaw

New Responsible Dog Ownership Bylaw # 15/2019 approved by Foothills County on March 13, 2019 outlines in detail the responsibilities of dog owners and provides better tools for Community Peace Officers with Foothills Patrol.

The updated bylaw offers Foothills Patrol Peace Officers improved functional tools to deal with concerns from residents. The bylaw now identifies and describes varying levels of aggressive dog behavior, dog bites and resulting impact on victims with fines that reflect the different levels.

$500,000 to Community Hub in Blackie School Modernization

2019 Richardson Ground Squirrel Strychnine Program

March 5, 2019

2% Liquid Strychnine Concentrate now for sale. 

The 2% Liquid Strychnine Concentrate (PCP #30433) will be available to bona fide farmers and ranchers within Foothills County. All producers will have to fill out and sign an “Acknowledgement of Purchase and Use of Product” agreement before purchase.

This program will run from March 5, 2019 to June 30, 2019 or before if all product is sold. The cost of the 2% LSC is $264.00 per case (24 bottles) or $11.00 per bottle. Payment must be by cheque or credit card (no cash sales).

Please contact the Agricutural Services Department for further information at 403-333-4764.

Call in advance to set up a time for pick up and to ensure there is someone available at the Agricuture Services Facility (located in Aldersyde).

Hours of operation are 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.
