Outline Plans and Area Concept Plans
Outline Plans and Area Concept Plans are non-statutory plans that are used as a guideline for the subsequent redesignation, subdivision and development of an area of land.
These plans are conceptual schemes that provides a much greater level of detail than an Area Structure Plan or Development Concept Plan in terms of the actual subdivision design, site specific technical analysis and details how the proposal is in keeping with the overall municipal goals for development.
Outline plans are a new plan type for the MD the framework for which was laid out in the MDP2010 and as such there have not yet been any Outline Plans approved in the MD.
Following is a list of approved Area Concept Plans in the MD of Foothills:
High River Highway Commercial Centre Area Concept Plan
Location: In the northeast corner of the intersection of Highway #2 and Highway #23 east of High River.
Legal Land Description: West ½ of SE 4-19-28 W4M and Portion of SW 4-19-28 W4M
Adopted by resolution 13/05/2004
- Guide to future development of site located east of Highway#2 on the north side of Highway#23
- Travel Centre/ truck stop - 10 acres
- Highway commercial along service road adjacent to overpass ramps
- Retail Outlet Mall
- Farmer's Market
- R.V. Park and Campground (50-75 units)

Muir Ranch Area Concept Plan
Location: Adjacent to the Hamlet of Cayley's southern border
Legal Land Description: Plan 0811492, Blk 4, Lot 2, SW 19-17-28 W4M
Adopted by resolution 30/10/2008
- Guide to future phased development located on south border of the hamlet of Cayley
- Fist phase of 26 urban size lots ( 14 approximately 13.5m x 35m and 12 approximately 16.7 x 35m).
- To be serviced by hooking onto existing MD servicing in Cayley.
- Boundary of hamlet proposed to be expanded to include development

Adopted by resolution March 7, 2002
