Highway 2A Industrial Area Structure Plan (H2AIASP)

On September 28th, 1995 the MD of Foothills Council adopted the H2AIASP under Bylaw 128/95.  The existing plan area is attached to the project Terms of Reference as Appendix A.  The intent of the H2AIASP was to provide a set of guiding principles and policy framework which would identify the location of future road networks, permitted land uses, and servicing and development opportunities and constraints within the plan area for future industrial land settlement.  This plan has not been formally reviewed or amended since its inception.

The H2AIASP was completed prior to the 1998 adoption of the Municipal District of Foothills Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaws.  Amendments to the H2AIASP are required in order to address and update sections pertaining to these statutory plans and land use designations.

Aldersyde Area Structure Plan (AASP)

On September 18th, 1986 the MD of Foothills Council adopted the AASP under Bylaw 661.  The existing plan area is attached to the project Terms of Reference as Appendix B.  It should be noted that the boundary of the Hamlet of Aldersyde has expanded since the inception of the AASP, and the document has not been amended to reflect this change.  At its March 6th, 2008 meeting, Council advised staff that preference would be given to incorporating the existing AASP within the review of the H2AIASP process to consolidate the H2AIASP and the AASP into one statutory planning document.

Authorization

On December 11th, 2007, Council authorized staff to proceed with drafting a terms of reference for the review and amendment of the existing H2AIASP.

At its March 6th, 2008 meeting Council was asked to provide staff with direction regarding the lands to be included within the amended H2AIASP study area; Council was asked for input regarding the incorporation of the Aldersyde Area Structure Plan (AASP) within the amended H2AIASP.  Staff was provided with the following direction:

  • The study area for the H2AIASP is to include those lands is shown in Appendix C in the project Terms of Reference;

  • The AASP and H2AIASP are to be consolidated under one statutory document, namely the amended H2AIASP.
