Summer Student - Protective Services Assistant/Summer Enforcement Officer

March 17, 2017

(Term – May to August 2017)

The Municipal District of Foothills No. 31, a rapidly growing rural Municipality in Southern Alberta and is inviting applications for a Summer Student term position to work within the Protective Services department.

The Summer Student will be responsible for the coordination, scheduling and deployment of radar speed trailers and the collection and analysis of data from these trailers to assist with development of traffic safety initiatives within the M.D. of Foothills under the general direction of the Protective Services Coordinator.  Assist with the development of informational programming relating to cyclists and motor vehicle interface concerns within the M.D. of Foothills.  Assist with the enforcement of select municipal bylaws.  This position will also perform duties for the Director of Emergency Management by researching, compiling and drafting resource, contact and dispatch response lists and providing assistance in the development of other emergency management projects as required.

This position is subject to grant funding approval from the Province.

Light Equipment Operator (Mowing and Brushing) – Seasonal

March 17, 2017

The M.D. of Foothills is currently seeking a seasonal, full time Light Equipment Operator with the Agricultural Services Department.  Reporting to the Agricultural Fieldman and/or the Assistant Agricultural Fieldman, the Light Equipment Operator is responsible for maintaining grass mowing and brush cutting duties within the M.D. of Foothills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mowing of municipal ditches, Hamlets and other municipal owned property as needed.
  • Brushing of municipal right of ways and properties where trees and brush are identified to be removed.
  • General and daily upkeep of equipment and vehicles.
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Q Endorsement would be considered asset.
  • Ability to communicate and work with the public in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Ability to perform physical duties in various weather conditions.

The seasonal term is expected to run from May 2017 to February 2018.
